Feelings are much like waves

Feelings are much like waves, we cannot stop them, but we can choose which ones to surf. When we learn that feelings are simply thoughts that we attach to and create emotional responses from, we can better control the ones that make us feel so out of control. Sometimes we just need to breathe and ask ourselves, "where is this feeling coming from?" "is a response necessary, or is this something tha t I need to work on within myself?" --
Just a few seconds of contemplation with a feeling can completely change the outcome of the situation. We must focus on riding our waves of happiness and joy and try to float over anger, sadness and pain... it will pass us by and soon we will not be able to see it as it blends into the distant horizon like all the ripples in our day.
