Lana Blinderman | Artist Talk and Brunch at Studio F

Join Studio F members and visiting artists for a morning of documentary photography and light refreshments. Seattle photographer Lana Blinderman will talk about the motivation and methodology behind her recent body of work documenting apartment buildings on Capitol Hill. With numerous new buildings rising seemingly overnight, Lana's project raises awareness of early- to mid-century residential architecture on Capitol Hill, notable for its style and importance for neighborhood character. Select photographs from the series will be on display in the gallery and prints will be available for purchase.

Lana Blinderman is an emerging Seattle photographer who creates portraits of buildings and neighborhoods with the mind on preservation. Lana's documentary work includes photo essays on Little Saigon, Greater Duwamish, and recently on notable historic apartments on Capitol Hill. Born and raised in the former Soviet Union, Lana lived in Israel prior to moving to Seattle over a decade ago. She draws inspiration from towering tenements of Eastern Europe and white stucco cities of the Middle East, and translates it into her photography of Seattle's much younger but equally inspiring urban architecture. Lana is keenly interested in the ways neighborhood character and housing affordability intersect. She holds an AAAS degree in Visual Communications/Graphic Design from Shoreline Community College and a BFA degree in photography from Seattle University.
